His Story

The land that formed the practice.

A concise passage through the places, disciplines, and questions that shaped Elder Jerez’s point of view.

1950s · Guatemala’s Pacific Coast

A beginning with limited resources taught Elder to use imagination freely and notice the abundance already present in the land.

1970s · Guatemala City

Civil engineering became a way to repair infrastructure and solve complex land problems in service of safer, more abundant communities.

1980s · Los Angeles

A new start brought an education in culture, architecture, and the disciplines that would later converge in his practice.

1990s · San Francisco Bay Area

Estate work brought a more intimate question into focus: how could private land hold the wonder, movement, and memory of a destination?

2002 · Soundlites

A problem in the field became an original system, carrying architectural light and non-directional sound through a single designed element.

2020 · Regeneer

The work expanded toward regeneration and legacy, connecting leisure, land stewardship, and a family-led future.
